1)Video: William's Syndrome ("Don't Be Shy, Mr. Sacks!")
Be able to discuss the cause of Williams Syndrome. How is it manifested in termms of physical characteristics and distinctive abilities and disabilities?
Know vocabulary and concepts from pages 246-247, 270-271, and class discussion. Review your class notes.
2) Influence of Chromosomes in Sex Determination, Mocaicism
Discuss Klinefelter Syndrome, Turner Syndrome, XXY, and other chromosome variations.
What is mosaicism and how does it arise? List several sex chromosome mosaics.
3) Mitosis
Info. on pages 248-252 can be on multiple choice questions.
Major point question on mitosis:
Diagram and label each of the stages of mitosis as well as interphase.
Explain what is occuring during each stage. This should include each of the early, middle, and late stages discussed in class.
4) Meiosis
Info. on pages 248-252 can be on multiple choice questions.
Major point question on meiosis:
Diagram and label each of the stages of meiosis, starting with the original spermatocyte and ending with the formation of four haploid sperm.
Explain what is occuring during each stage.
Review pages 271 to 274. Remember importance of crossing over.
5) Gamete Formation
Major point question:
Diagrammatically contrast the major cell divisions that occur during meiosis in males and females, being able to label each of the stages.
Why is the asymmetric division of cytoplasm adaptive in oogenesis?
6) Comparison of Mitosis and Meisosis
Review pp.275-276.
